Our story
The farm we brought back to life
We are Nikola and Alex. With our three children we were looking for a place to spend our holidays — and found an old farmstead below Monínec. We fell for it and decided to bring it back to life. This is the story of that transformation.
How we found it
When we first walked through the farm in 2021, it was a piece of countryside straight out of childhood. A stone base, vines over the porch, wooden windows. Beautiful — but a lot of work, too. Cracked plaster, tiles from another era, empty rooms and a yard waiting for a new purpose. But it had good bones and quiet mornings. And we saw a home in it.
Down to the stone
So we threw ourselves into it. The whole family. And it wasn't a job for a few months. We went down to the bone — opened the ceilings to the original brick vaults, stripped the walls back to bare stone, uncovered old bricks beneath the plaster. What was worth keeping, we kept: stone, wooden beams, hand-planed solid-wood window sills. Years of dust and decisions. But every detail you see at the farm today was chosen and set by hand.
So it feels like home
From the start we cared about one thing — that you feel at home here, not like in a rental. So we dressed the bare walls in wood, stone and warm colours. Beds you sink into in the evening. A fireplace the whole family gathers around. A kitchen where you can cook for ten. Vaulted ceilings, wooden beams, soft lighting and tiles we picked one by one. We kept the farm's rustic spirit — we just added the comfort you're used to at home. We wanted a place where you arrive and breathe out right away.
From a bare yard to a pool
But the biggest change waited outside. A patch of bare yard became a pool — first a hole in the ground, then concrete walls, a shaped basin and finally a stone waterfall. A sauna, a hot tub, a children's playground and terraces followed. We reworked the terrain, paved, planted. Piece by piece a place grew here where you can spend a whole day and not want to be anywhere else.
And now we open it to you too
We rebuilt the farm as a place we'd take our own family on holiday — with the smell of wood, steam in the sauna and water spilling over boulders where there was a bare yard. It turned out better than we hoped. So we thought we'd share it: open the farm to other families and groups looking for calm, privacy and a piece of nature. What we built here with love is now yours to enjoy too.
